ABIL Nitrifying Solution

ABIL is a water enhancement product used to improve the efficiency of biological filters in aquaculture, aquarium and pond applications. ABIL facilitates the removal of lethal ammonia and nitrite from freshwater and saltwater, which is produced as a by-product by aquatic organisms. ABIL contains a live culture of concentrated nitrifying bacteria that biologically convert ammonia and nitrite to relatively harmless nitrate.

ABIL can be used to inoculate a biological filter or can be added directly to the water of culture tanks, aquaria or ponds. ABIL improves the general health of livestock and decreases the number of necessary water changes. Moreover, ABIL can dramatically reduce the start-up period of the nitrogen cycle to get new systems up and running in up to ten days (depending on water conditions).

The biological filters of newer recirculation systems can be prone to colonisation by unbeneficial non-nitrifying bacteria, particularly in the first six months. Inoculating your system with ABIL can significantly reduce this risk, by preferentially colonising the system with concentrated nitrifying bacteria. Like all living organisms, bacteria need feeding. In the presence of livestock, ammonia and nitrite supply the bacteria with nutrients. 1 litre bottles of ABIL culture are supplied with two bottles of nutrient for the dosing of new and sterile systems, prior to adding any aquatic organisms.

Note: ABIL can be stored in a refrigerator at 4°C for up to 12 months

REMUS Probiotic Solution

Remus probiotics

REMUS Probiotic Solution can improve the quality and health of aquarium and aquaculture systems and is particularly beneficial in larval and live food culture systems. The probionts in REMUS compete with pathogens for nutrients and food as well as space and other resources. By reducing the number of unbeneficial micro-organisms, REMUS can enhance the immune response of larvae, fish or live feed without the need for antibiotics. Worldwide, the effectiveness of antibiotics is decreasing due to increased resistance in micro-organisms. Antibiotics can also potentially destroy the biological filters of an aquarium or aquaculture system.

REMUS has a proven record of accomplishment in reducing mortality rates at the first feed stage. Culture systems inoculated prior to use with REMUS are more bacterially stable, and have a reduced risk of the sudden growth and crash cycles. Artemia and rotifer cultures reared can give rise to higher growth rates, greater yields and improved nutritional quality.
