Commercial ProductsTMC Re-Gas/Bio-Towers
Tropical Marine Centre System Re-Gas/Bio-Towers are versatile trickle towers which have a variety of uses. Water enters the top of the unit via a rotating spray bar and exits at the bottom under gravity. Designed to be operated with the supplied media un-immersed for maximum efficiency. • Biological Filter. The high quality 1" TMC Bio-rings included with this unit provide a high surface area for nitrifying bacteria to grow, for the effective removal of ammonia and nitrite. • Re-Gas Tower. Water trickling from the top of the unit via the included rotating spray bar will be re-oxygenated by the air drawn into the column. Supersaturated gases held in solution, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen, will be removed at the same time. • Evaporative Cooling Tower. As water trickles down the tower, water temperature will be reduced by natural evaporation. Please note that the cooling effect will be at its highest in low humidity atmospheres. In some cases it may be necessary to force air through the unit. TMC Re-Gas/Bio-Towers have a number of unique design features including:-
- Rotating spray bar with glass and teflon bearing. This special bearing, used in all TMC Re-Gas/Bio-Towers, is unique. Water does not pass through the actual bearing itself which, together with the specially designed bearing housing, ensures the spray bar mechanism rotates continuously, unlike those used in conventional bearings. Bar rotation is kinetically driven by pressure of the water exiting the bar. - Side wall flow deflector rings. Specially designed flow deflector rings are included with TMC Re-Gas/Bio-Towers to prevent water flow channeling down the sides of the filters. - Double O-ring outlet boss. All TMC Re-GAS/Bio-Towers feature our unique, flexible double O-ring boss system for easy service and the simple removal and replacement of pipework and components. Technical FactAll units utilise our TMC Bio-Rings with an approximate surface area of 210 m2/m3, and a biological capacity of a minimum of 140g of TAN processed per m3 of media per 24 hours. Flow rates specified are designed to be 30m3/hr per m2 of cross-sectional filter area.
Technical FactAll materials used in the production of TMCs Re-gas/Biotowers are from virgin non toxic plastics. It is critical that any products used in the construction of Re-gas/Bio-towers are non toxic. Aside from the fact that they need to sustain populations of aerobic bacteria, the high surface areas associated with these filters means that there will be significant leaching of any toxic substances should they be present. Please refer to the technical details below for materials of construction of each of the units.
