Tropical Marine Centre Heads North

A prominent company in the aquatic trade is bringing its expertise to the North of England and Scotland - TMC Manchester is now open for business.

The professional service offered by Tropical Marine Centre will be well known to many businesses, and this has now been extended with the opening of TMC Manchester. The opening of this new site strengthens the Company's commitment to its trade customers in the north by offering them the same benefits that the site in Chorleywood has offered to its customers in the south for so many years.

Trade customers will be able to personally select livestock on a regular basis, even daily if they so wish. This will ensure that they can choose exactly the right livestock, including any "specials" which do not appear on the standard TMC stock list. Customers throughout the North of England and Scotland will find TMC conveniently placed, just off junction 3A of the M56, on the Sharston Industrial Estate, Wythenshawe.

As the site is open from 7am, customers will be able to collect their livestock early in the morning and still be back at their shops in time for a 9am opening. Collecting customers will also benefit from a 2.5% settlement discount - available on all collected livestock - and will avoid the courier charges previously incurred for having livestock sent from Chorleywood. Most of the livestock for the Manchester site are being flown directly into Manchester Airport, which is only a five minute drive from the new premises and means that most fish have shorter journey times.

With TMC Manchester now open, overnight shipments of fish are now possible for trade customers in the very north of England and Scotland, and same day courier services will also soon be offered out of Manchester, with dry goods delivered free with livestock.

Stewart Elsam and Martyn Else (Dorset), two key staff members at Chorleywood have permanently relocated to Manchester to ensure that the highest quality of livestock and customer care is maintained. They are already well known to many of TMC's customers in the north and their many years of experience in the aquatic trade will be invaluable at the new site. A full range of dry goods is also stocked at Manchester, including pipework and fittings and spare parts for TMC's commercial products (although the commercial products themselves will continue to be supplied only from Chorleywood). This means customers will be able to collect dry goods at the same time as livestock offering them a complete and convenient cash and carry service.

Well known branded dry goods, which will be stocked at the Manchester site, include Gamma Frozen Foods- voted "Best Overall Food" in the Practical Fishkeeping Reader Survey - and Tropic Marin Salt, the world leading synthetic salt, and the only one used by TMC in its facilities in Chorleywood and Manchester. The Vecton UV Steriliser - winner of the "Best Specialist Marine Equipment" category at the EMAP Pet Industry Awards 1999 - is also available from TMC Manchester.

To ensure that consumers get the best out of TMC products, all staff at TMC Manchester will be on hand to demonstrate any of their new or existing products to its retail customers. TMC Manchester consists of a 2500 sq. foot fish holding facility, a 1500 sq. foot warehouse for dry goods, and a 750 sq. foot admin/sales area. State of the art filtration systems guarantee the highest quality of water for the facility. These systems have been designed by TMC, drawing on its 30 years of expertise of running a fish holding facility, but also incorporating the latest aquaculture technology such as the large scale protein skimmers and biological filters. The marketing support currently in place at Chorleywood is available in Manchester, including a full range of point of sale material covering TMC's whole product range.
