Clear Stream 600 - For ponds up to 600 imp. gallons (2700 litres) with a maximum flow rate of 300 imp gallons (1350 litres) per hour. Clear Stream 1200 - For ponds up to 1200 imp. gallons (5400 litres) with a maximum flow rate of 600 imp. gallons (2700 litres) per hour. Why do I need a pond filter?A correctly sized pond filter will help keep your pond clean and its inhabitants healthy, and is essential if you are planning to keep Koi or a high concentration of fish. There are two main types of filtration used in ponds:- mechanical and biological.
A mechanical filter will trap suspended matter (uneaten food, fish waste, dead plant matter etc) pumped from the pond. A biological filter cultures beneficial bacteria which will digest liquid waste (from fish, and decomposing food and vegetable matter), breaking it down into a less harmful form. Clear Stream Filters offer effective mechanical and biological filtration in one compact unit ensuring a naturally healthy environment for the pond's inhabitants. Most mechanical and biological filters are mounted outside the pond. A submersible pump is used to pump the water from the pond into the filter, where it passes through the media contained within the filter before being returned to the pond. How do Clear Stream Filters work?
Unlike most external pond filters, Clear Stream Filters are designed to be fitted in line, between the pond pump and the pond or water feature. Conventional pond filter boxes require a gravity water return to the pond and must be installed above the water level. Clear Stream Filters may be conveniently and unobtrusively fitted at levels lower than the pond water level or at the base of a waterfall or water feature, but should not be sited more than 2m below the pond or water feature. Clear Stream Filters, like most filters and pond pumps, will give the best performance if the shortest length of pipe/hose possible is used between the pump and the pond. The Benefits?
Pressurised filters. Units can be conveniently positioned below the level of water delivery e.g a waterfall.
Compact and discreet design. Can be partially buried in the ground for minimal visual impact. Large diameter inlet and outlet ports. Suitable for use with low pressure/low wattage pumps.
Hose connections are at the side of the unit, allowing supply and return pipes to be easily hidden. Versatile, multi stage (1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4") hosetails, to take all common sizes of hose. Servicing/maintenance can be carried out without having to disturb pipework. Ready to use - all media and connections included.Complete and effective filtration with mechanical sponge filter and biological media.
Easy to remove filter media bag, for easy cleaning. Canister design, incorporating unique filter bag, means alternative filter media can be used to suit user's specific requirements. Lid tool supplied ensures lid is quick and easy to remove, even with wet hands. All spare parts and replacement filter media are readily available. Multiple units can be linked together to increase filtration capacity. 2 year manufacturer's guarantee. ![]() Which Unit Do I Need?NB. This chart is for guidance only and model required depends on a number of factors including stocking density, surface area, feeding regime and type of fish. ![]() Please note that Koi ponds generally require significantly more filtration than planted goldfish ponds. On larger ponds or where stocking levels are high, for increased filtration capacity multiple units may be installed together in parallel or in series. If you are in any doubt about which unit you should use, please ask your dealer or telephone TMC on 01923 284151
